The Center for Space Physics (CSP) and Institute for Astrophysical Research (IAR) are university-based centers for research and education in space science/space-related technologies and astrophysics. The research office assists 50 PIs from the Boston University Departments of CAS Astronomy, ENG Electrical and Computer Engineering, and ENG Mechanical Engineering with every step of the grant life cycle. The exciting research portfolios that we manage cover topics from atmospheres, magnetospheres, and plasma environments of our solar system to the design, development, and operation of instruments and telescopes for astronomical research. The incumbent will provide administrative and financial support to members of the Center for Space Physics and the Institute for Astrophysical Research.
Essential Functions:
Provides daily administrative support such as ordering and setting up catered lunches, answering phones, keeping office supplies stocked, and managing mail and package distribution. Purchases supplies and equipment needed for research and maintain corresponding budget records for grants. Assists researchers with booking travel and completing reimbursements after trips are complete. Organizes semester seminar series which includes booking travel, reserving space for lunch and post-seminar events, dinner reservations, and scheduling meetings with the speaker. Coordinate events, which includes arranging travel, catering, dinner reservations, reserving parking, processing reimbursements, updating websites, and advertising events through email and fliers. Required Skills B.A./B.S., and one to three years of related experience.
