  • works independently and demonstrates initiative, discretion and good judgment in planning and implementing social and/or recreational programs which support the development, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and siblings.
The incumbent is responsible for the supervision of patients and siblings while in the Outpatient playroom and provides observation and assessment of patients, siblings, and parent/child interactions where appropriate.
  • Responsibilities

Provide developmentally appropriate group and/or individual activities in the playroom area to support the psychosocial, behavioral, and cultural needs of the patients and their siblings. 2. Supervise patients and siblings signed into the playroom area while ensuring that rules of safety are followed. 3. Effectively communicate to caregivers and providers any information pertaining to observations, interactions, or incidents that involve the well-being of the patients or their sibling's while in the playroom. 4. Provide orientation to patients, families, and providers regarding typical procedures the patient will be experiencing during their outpatient visit. 5. Participate on the program's crisis team by providing support to ensure staff and patient safety. 6. Attend Core Course when topics are relevant to job related learning that have been approved by supervisor. 7. Conduct occasional literature search on topics relevant to job related learning as assigned by supervisor. 8. Maintain materials and supplies by cleaning toys, equipment, and playroom environment in accordance with established procedures. 9. Encourage developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive interactions between individuals while in the playroom. Model pro-social behaviors. 10. Maintain professional boundaries with patients, family, and staff. 11. Maintain quality and effectiveness of patient services through the implementation of, and compliance with, all program, departmental, and Institute policies, procedures and performance improvement activities. 12. Rotate between playrooms as needed and/or scheduled. 13. Follow monthly themes as indicated by the supervisor or Recreation activities staff II. 14. Assist with administrative tasks as needed

  • EDUCATION
  • + High School Diploma or equivalent required. + Some college preferred pertaining to child care/development or equivalent experience.
  • EXPERIENCE
  • + Minimum two (2) years of experience in a pediatric setting (hospital, educational or structured recreational setting) required.
  • Minimum pay range
  • USD $36,955.98/Yr.
  • Maximum pay range
  • USD $60,296.50/Yr.
