Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Weekend Activity Aide, where your enthusiasm and compassion will brighten the lives of seniors in assisted living and memory care communities. This rewarding role involves planning, organizing, and leading engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. As a vital part of our caregiving team, you will create a lively, supportive environment that encourages residents to enjoy their weekends to the fullest. Your energy and creativity will help foster a sense of community and joy for those we serve. Responsibilities Develop and implement diverse recreational activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Facilitate engaging events such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, and themed celebrations during weekends. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring comfort and safety while promoting independence. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to coordinate activities that complement medical and therapeutic plans. Maintain accurate documentation of participation, resident responses, and activity outcomes for care records. Manage activity supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is organized and ready for each event. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, fostering social interaction and reducing feelings of isolation. Skills Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home settings. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs such as mobility, dressing, grooming, and toileting with patience and respect. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments is highly desirable. Excellent schedule management skills to organize multiple activities over weekends efficiently. Compassionate approach to aging issues counseling and social work principles to support residents' emotional well-being.
