The Minnesota Veterans Home•Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Recreation Therapist. This position will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized, goal oriented recreational and leisure programming for all residents in assigned caseload. Areas to be addressed include physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial capabilities. This position may work holidays and weekends, as needed. The Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis provides skilled nursing care in a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. The Minneapolis Home is located on Minnehaha Avenue, which has connecting highways and public transportation options for an easy commute. The beautiful 53-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Mississippi River. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below, and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification or ability to attain certification by hire date. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a long term care setting. Experience working in a dementia/memory care unit within long term care. Additional Requirements This position requires successful completion of the following: A Minnesota Department of Human services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check. A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
