  • The Minnesota Veterans Home
  • Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Recreation Therapist. This position will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized, goal oriented recreational and leisure programming for all residents in assigned caseload. Areas to be addressed include physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial capabilities. This position may work holidays and weekends, as needed.

  • Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position. + Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification or ability to attain certification by hire date.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • + Experience working in a long term care setting. + Experience working in a dementia/memory care unit within long term care.
  • Additional Requirements
  • This position requires successful completion of the following: A Minnesota Department of Human services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s).
When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check. A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment. Employment reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
