Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and social programs within our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in event planning, senior care, and therapeutic activities, with a focus on enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful engagement. As Activities Director, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a diverse range of activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, fostering a vibrant community environment that promotes socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and oversee a variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, outings, games, and special events that cater to residents' preferences and abilities. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to incorporate therapeutic activities such as recreational therapy, dementia care programs, and memory care initiatives. Develop comprehensive activity calendars that align with residents' interests, cognitive levels, and physical capabilities while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Facilitate engaging programs that support social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being for residents with diverse needs including Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Manage activity supplies, equipment, and resources efficiently while maintaining a safe and organized environment. Foster strong relationships with residents, families, and staff to ensure activities meet individual needs and enhance community involvement. Track participation and gather feedback to continually improve program offerings; adapt activities based on resident response and changing needs. Skills Extensive experience in event planning within senior or assisted living environments. Proven background in assisted living or nursing home settings with specialized knowledge in Alzheimer's care and dementia support. Strong understanding of geriatric care principles, including working with individuals with disabilities or memory impairments. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents of varying cognitive levels and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to develop innovative programs tailored to seniors' interests while managing schedules efficiently. Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques aimed at promoting mental health and physical activity among older adults. Experience assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed; counseling on aging issues is a plus. Pay:
$20.00 - $27.00 per hour
