Coordinator of K-12 Gifted/Talented and The Arts Webster Groves, MO Job Details Full-time 8 hours ago Qualifications Professional development facilitation in schools Teacher mentoring for professional development Teaching Certification Master's degree Teacher coaching Data collection Full Job Description Position Summary The Coordinator of Gifted/Talented and The Arts provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for the district's K-12 Gifted Education, Gifted Fine Arts, Fine Arts, and Practical Arts programs. This position ensures high-quality, equitable, and standards-aligned instructional programming that supports advanced learners and promotes excellence in artistic and practical disciplines. The coordinator works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and stakeholders to design, implement, and continuously improve programs that meet diverse student needs, including specialized opportunities for students with advanced abilities in the arts. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Learning. Major Areas of Responsibility K-12 Gifted/Talented Coordination Demonstrate a deep understanding of national and state standards for gifted education Lead curriculum development, alignment, and implementation of K-12 gifted programming Facilitate vertical and horizontal alignment of gifted curriculum, goals, and instructional practices Oversee and ensure fidelity of student identification processes, including assessment, placement, and data analysis Organize and manage testing, identification procedures, meetings, and communication with families Support innovative, research-based instructional practices tailored to gifted learners Stay informed of legislative and policy developments impacting gifted education K-12 Fine Arts Coordination Provide leadership for district-wide Fine Arts programs (e.g., visual arts, music, theater) Ensure alignment of Fine Arts curriculum with state and national standards Promote vertical alignment and program coherence across grade levels Support teachers in implementing high-quality, engaging, and culturally responsive arts instruction Coordinate performances, exhibitions, and community engagement opportunities Advocate for equitable access to Fine Arts programming for all students K-12 Practical Arts Coordination Oversee development and implementation of Practical Arts programs (e.g., career and technical education, family and consumer sciences, industrial technology) Ensure curriculum relevance, alignment, and real-world application Support program pathways that prepare students for college, career, and life readiness Collaborate with community and industry partners to enhance programming opportunities Monitor program effectiveness and support continuous improvement General Responsibilities Provide guidance and support for new and experienced teachers across all program areas Facilitate targeted professional development aligned to district goals Support administrators in their roles as instructional leaders and evaluators Guide teachers in curriculum development, assessment practices, and instructional strategies Lead program evaluation efforts and implement necessary improvements Promote interdisciplinary connections among gifted, fine arts, and practical arts programs and other content areas Facilitate and participate in district committees and collaborative leadership teams Engage with local, state, and national professional organizations Foster communication and data collection among stakeholders including staff, students, families, and community members Develop systems for collaboration and ongoing feedback for programmatic improvement Support district initiatives related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of experience in gifted education, arts education, and/or related field Missouri Teaching Certification Missouri Gifted Certification Master's degree in gifted education, curriculum and instruction, educational administration, or an arts-related field Knowledge of best practices in gifted instruction, Fine Arts, and Practical Arts Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate effective professional development Deep commitment to educational equity and inclusive practices Proven leadership, organizational, and collaboration skills Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
