Job Description

ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR
Tara Plantation of Carthage
JOB SUMMARY
Develops and manages a program of activities designed to promote the resident's active involvement with each other, their families, and the community.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews personal information about each resident's interests and capabilities for developing activities.
  • Arranges planned individual and group activities for the resident as required per State Regulation. There shall be a minimum of 14 hours per week.
  • Prepares a monthly calendar of planned group activities that can be read easily.
  • Involves community resources, such as recreational, volunteer, religious, aging, and developmentally disabled-associated agencies, to enhance the activities available for the residents.
  • Evaluates and documents the overall effectiveness of the activities program at least every six months to determine ways to enhance the program. Must use input from residents.
  • Provides the following types of activities: social and recreational, divisional and intellectual, work-type and volunteer services.
  • Knowing and protecting the resident's privacy rights under HIPAA regulations.
  • Provides training and orientation to volunteers by: Explaining disaster plans, confidentially, residents' rights and HIPAA to all volunteers.
EDUCATION
  • High school graduate or certified under the G.E.D. program. Must meet provisions set forth by the County Department of Social Services.
  • Must complete the Activity Coordinator course through a community college and/or State certified Activities Course within 9 months of employment.
SUPERVISION
  • Supervises the daily activities of the residents.
  • Supervises Volunteers

  • Will have periodic and daily contact with residents, community leaders, religious leaders, schools and City and County officials.
