In this rewarding role, you will design and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Your energy and compassion will help foster a lively, inclusive environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This paid position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults while developing your skills in senior care, recreational therapy, and community engagement. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and lead engaging activities that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including social events, games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and outings Collaborate with care teams to incorporate therapeutic activities that support residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive impairments Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), ensuring their comfort and participation in planned events Manage activity schedules efficiently to maximize resident involvement and ensure smooth transitions between events Foster a positive environment by encouraging socialization and building meaningful relationships with residents Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback for continuous improvement Support family members and caregivers by providing updates on resident engagement and well-being during activities Skills Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, and dementia-specific activities Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents of diverse abilities and backgrounds Compassionate caregiving skills with experience assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as dressing, grooming, or mobility support Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs or unexpected situations Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles related to elder care Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care settings is highly desirable Join us in creating vibrant days filled with laughter, connection, and purpose for our residents.
