  • $22 an hour 4 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Therapeutic Recreation Nursing home experience Working with individuals with disabilities Collaboration Team development Activity Director Certified Patient interaction Full Job Description Overview Woodbury Wellness Center, a 212 bed Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living/Memory Care campus, located in Hampstead, is seeking a dedicated and energetic Activity Director/Recreational Therapist to lead our Life Enrichment Team and to enhance the quality of life for our residents in our long-term care setting.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for senior care, with expertise in designing and implementing engaging recreational activities tailored to individuals with diverse needs, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive and physical disabilities. This role offers an opportunity to foster a vibrant community atmosphere, promote well-being, and support residents' social, emotional, and physical health through thoughtfully planned programs. Duties Develop, coordinate, and lead a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement for residents. Assess individual resident needs and interests to tailor activity plans that enhance their quality of life and support their personal goals. Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to incorporate therapeutic activities that address specific health conditions such as Alzheimer's or memory impairments. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure consistent programming while accommodating residents' routines and preferences. Organize special events, outings, and community engagement initiatives that foster a lively and inclusive environment. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to promote independence and comfort. Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation, progress, and feedback to inform ongoing program development. To include completion of required areas of MDS assessments and Individualized Plans of Care. Foster a positive team environment by providing leadership, training, and mentorship to staff involved in recreational programming. Other Duties as Assigned. Skills Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior activity coordination within assisted living or nursing home environments. Strong background in Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and working with individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Knowledge of long-term care practices combined with home & community care experience is highly desirable. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting. Compassionate caregiving skills with an understanding of aging issues counseling and social work principles. Demonstrated ability to design engaging programs that promote mental stimulation and physical activity tailored to seniors' needs. Job Requirements:
Recreational Therapy Degree/License or Certified Activity Director course completion and certificate with a state approved Activity Professional organization (such as NAAP) Previous experience in Adult Care Home or Nursing Facility Activity programming and coordination. Knowledge of Electronic Health Record software and MDS/Assessment/Careplanning preferred.
