Summary 'Activity Coordinator' is a vital role based in Auburn, NY, responsible for organizing engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for our senior residents. Responsibilities The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a diverse range of social, recreational, cultural, and wellness-focused programs for the senior residents of the community. This role supports residents' quality of life by fostering engagement, social connection, and independence within the community. The following list is not all inclusive; however, it is a typical description of an Activities Coordinator normal responsibilities. The Property Manager and District Manager may include other duties as they become necessary. The Activities Coordinator Key Responsibilities Program Planning & Execution Develop, schedule and lead daily, weekly, and monthly activities designed to meet the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of the residents. Coordinate recurring programs such as exercise classes, arts, crafts, educational workshops, movie nights, game sessions, and holiday events. Maintain an updated activities calendar 4and distribute it to residents and staff. Resident Engagement Encourage resident participation through personal invitations, community announcements, and creative outreach. Adapt activities to accommodate various mobility levels, cognitive abilities, and personal interests. Build positive relationships with residents to better understand their preferences and needs. Event Coordination Organize special events including seasonal celebrations, guest speakers, and volunteer-led programs. Arrange transportation for off-site activities when applicable. Coordinate use of community space and manage event logistics, setup, and cleanup. Administrative & Operational Tasks Track attendance, participation trends, and resident feedback to improve programming. Maintain a budget for activities and ensure supplies are available when needed. Maintain detailed records of funds received and disbursed and balance account. Ensure all events adhere to safety guidelines and community policies. Community & Partnership Development Network with local organizations, libraries, senior centers, and nonprofits to bring new resources and grams to the community. Recruit and supervise volunteers or outside facilitators as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in recreation, gerontology, social services, or a related field is a plus. Activities Coordinator Job Description Experience working with seniors in a residential, recreational, or social services setting. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for working with older adults. Ability to lift light to moderate weights (activity supplies), move furniture for events, and assist residents with needs. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, calendar creation). Preferred Certification in Activities or Recreation (e.g., ACA, CTRS) or willingness to obtain certification. First Aid/CPR certification Experience coordinating group events or recreational programs. Work Environment Primarily based in community common areas, activity rooms, and outdoor spaces within the apartment complex. Regular interaction with seniors and diverse backgrounds and varying levels of mobility and cognition. Some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours may be required for special events.Job Type:
