  • Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Worker to join our team and enrich the lives of our residents and children through engaging, meaningful activities.
In this vital role, you will plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational and social programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community environment, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for residents and children. Position Classification Non-Exempt / Hourly Position Summary The Activities Worker is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising educational and recreational activities for school-age children and families participating in Project L.I.F.E. programs. This position requires flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to support children and families in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement educational and recreational activities for school-age children.
  • Conduct after-school programs Monday through Friday during the school year.
  • Adjust activities and work schedules during school breaks, vacations, and program needs.
  • Work with small groups of children as assigned by the Childcare Coordinator.
  • Ensure activities are age-appropriate, inclusive, and accessible to participating families.
  • Assist in establishing community-integrated activities and events.
  • Operate activities and events within approved budgetary limits.
  • Encourage participation in activities whenever practical and appropriate.
  • Take photos and videos of program activities in accordance with agency policies, confidentiality standards, and parent/guardian consent requirements.
  • Research and identify low-cost or no-cost community events and opportunities for participating families.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Childcare Coordinator and Executive Director.
  • Assist with arranging transportation for approved outside events and activities when necessary.
  • Maintain curriculum binders, schedules, and documentation related to community events and program planning.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience working with school-age children preferred.
  • Experience teaching, coordinating volunteers, and/or organizing community activities required.
  • Strong organizational, planning, coordination, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and under changing priorities.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health-related issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS-related issues, or poverty preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet agency driving requirements if transportation responsibilities are assigned.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Mandated Reporter Training required.
  • Food Handler Training preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of Project L.
I.F.E. Schedule Requirements This position requires a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, school breaks, and holidays as program needs require.
