September 2, 2026 Background The Athens Photographic Project (APP) is a peer-run community that supports mental health and well-being by empowering people through photography to discover creativity, identity, and connection. For 25 years, APP artists and staff have embraced photography, self-expression, and peer support as essential components of mental health recovery in Athens. Today, APP is expanding its peer-run mission to increase access to arts, wellness, and peer support services for people in recovery throughout Southeast Ohio. APP's photography program is a long-standing community-based model that integrates expressive photography classes, exhibitions, and workforce development with peer support and mental health recovery services. Programming takes place in APP's Arts and Wellness Studio and in partnership with community behavioral health providers across the region. Position Overview APP is seeking two full-time Arts and Wellness Coordinators serving through COMCorps to support its peer-run arts and wellness programming serving adults and teens in Athens, Hocking, and Vinton counties. One position will support APP's established photography program, including classes, workshops, exhibitions, advocacy, and workforce development. A second position will support APP's expanding arts and wellness programming. Together, these roles support programming that addresses gaps in behavioral health services by creating opportunities for peer support, self-expression, skill building, and meaningful community participation. Service Activities 20% COMCorps sponsored events, trainings, meetings, and initiatives 40% Support peer-run arts and wellness groups onsite at APP and at community partner sites in Athens, Hocking, and Vinton counties 20% Support community exhibitions, advocacy projects, social enterprise activities, and print/digital communications 15% Support outreach, program accessibility, and participant engagement through in-person and digital promotion 5% Site training and evaluation What You'll Do Support and facilitate peer-run arts and wellness groups at APP and community partner sites Assist with photography-based programming, workshops, exhibitions, and outreach Support community exhibitions, advocacy projects, and creative social enterprise activities Contribute to print and digital communications that promote programming and accessibility Engage participants in creative, recovery-informed programming and peer support environments Participate in COMCorps trainings, meetings, and service initiatives Assist with site training, evaluation, and program development activities Qualifications Must be 17 years of age or older High school diploma or GED required U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident Ability to complete a background check Willingness to complete Mental Health First Aid training Reliable transportation preferred Available to begin service in September 2026 Preferred Skills and Experience Interest in photography, visual storytelling, or creative arts practice Comfort working in peer-centered, discussion-based group settings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Interest in mental health recovery, community wellness, or social services Experience in arts programming, facilitation, or community engagement is a plus Compensation and Benefits Living allowance of $22,100+ Education award of $7,395+ upon successful completion of 1,700 hours of full-time service How to Apply To apply, follow the application process outlined by COMCorps at
