Activities Director

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable programs for residents in a senior care environment. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and oversee a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents. Duties Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program that caters to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities Plan and coordinate special events, outings, celebrations, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization and engagement Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, families, and community partners to ensure activities align with individual care plans and preferences Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise classes, games, and storytelling sessions to stimulate cognitive function and physical activity Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), encouraging participation while respecting their independence Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent delivery while accommodating residents' routines and health considerations Maintain detailed records of resident participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes to inform ongoing care strategies Requirements Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy or senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and aging issues counseling Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments is highly desirable Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners Ability to assist residents with ADLs in a respectful and supportive manner Demonstrated skill in schedule management to balance multiple activities efficiently Compassionate approach with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults through creative programming Prior experience in home & community care or social work is a plus Activity Director Certified (ADC) with NCCAP preferred or ability to obtain.
