Hourly Overview:
Sherwood Pines is a small residential care community (16 bed) with a focus on Memory Care. The Life Enhancement Director plans and oversees recreational activities such as exercise, arts and crafts, outings and any other creative form of recreation at Sherwood Pines. Their duties focus on creating activities and recreation that enrich residents' lives with physical and cognitive exercise and socialization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:
Activity and Recreation Planning:
Develop plans as an active participant in resident care planning. Plan, organize, and lead social, recreational, and spiritual activities to meet the needs of a diverse resident population with varying stages of memory loss. Develop engaging activities to be available 24/7, such as personalized "grab boxes" or other items the resident is familiar with and enjoys. Recording resident participation before the end of each shift. Managing Performers/Entertainers and maintaining a list of active performers/entertainers for future events. Arrange and execute travel for off-site activities/recreation. Limited Caregiving and other
Facility Duties:
When not actively executing activities or other job functions, activities personnel are expected to play active roles while clocked in such as assisting caregivers with resident care, helping kitchen staff with meals, preparation, and serving snacks, etc. Coordinate and lead a monthly memory-loss support group with resident families. Plan and execute holiday activities/recreation, inviting families and the public.
Communication and Calendars:
Prepare, post, and distribute monthly and annual calendars and maintain an updated online activity/recreation calendar. Update activity/recreation calendar online in the shared Outlook Activity Calendar.
Community Engagement:
Foster family and community support through newsletters, networking, and inclusive programs. Manage online social media presence, minimum of 3 posts per week, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Threads and X (Twitter). Update regularly with photos. Assist in training other care staff in activity planning/execution. Determine residents' interests and expectations for leisure and recreational activities. Submit budgetary recommendations for equipment and supplies for large events and suggest an annual Activity and Recreation Budget.
