Job Description

Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Memory Care Engagement to lead our specialized programs dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents with memory impairments. This vital role involves developing innovative engagement strategies, coordinating therapeutic activities, and fostering a vibrant community environment that promotes dignity, independence, and joy. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of dementia and Alzheimer's care, along with exceptional leadership skills to inspire staff and connect meaningfully with residents and their families. Responsibilities Design and implement engaging, person-centered activities tailored to residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other memory impairments, ensuring they promote cognitive stimulation and emotional well-being. Lead and train staff in best practices for memory care engagement, recreational therapy techniques, and effective communication strategies with individuals experiencing cognitive decline. Collaborate with caregiving teams to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), socialization efforts, and behavioral management plans that enhance residents' quality of life. Organize community events, educational workshops, and family engagement initiatives that foster a supportive environment for residents and their loved ones. Oversee schedule management for activity programs, ensuring consistency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards related to assisted living and long-term care facilities. Provide counseling on aging issues to residents and families, offering guidance on dementia care options and community resources. Maintain detailed documentation of resident participation, progress notes, incident reports, and program outcomes to support continuous improvement. Qualifications Proven experience in memory care or Alzheimer's/dementia care. Strong background in recreational therapy, senior care, or related fields such as social work or nursing. Demonstrated expertise in event planning, program development, and working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, residents' families, and external partners. Knowledge of caregiving techniques for assisting with ADLs and managing behavioral challenges associated with dementia. Experience in schedule management within a healthcare or senior living environment. Compassionate approach to counseling on aging issues and providing empathetic support to residents and families.
