Job Description
Overview Under the supervision of the Board, the Recreation Director provides high-quality recreation and enrichment opportunities for the Louisburg community. The Director oversees the development, management, and implementation of all recreational and enrichment programs and other activities offered by the LRC. The Director is responsible for meeting defined program goals and budgets. The Recreation Director is responsible for preparing, recommending, and administering an annual budget, and supervising day-to-day financial operations, personnel programs, and public relations activities. The Recreation Director is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and attending all meetings and events related to the Louisburg Recreation Commission (USD 416 Board Meetings, City Board Meetings, Chamber meetings, etc.) Work is performed with a substantial degree of independence within the framework of approved policies and procedures. The Recreation Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. This is a hybrid position, with designated office hours to be agreed upon at hire. Duties Manage daily operations of recreation programs and staff to ensure high-quality service delivery. Plan, implement, and evaluate year-round youth and adult recreation and enrichment programs. Oversee operations of facilities used for LRC purposes, including, but not limited to, athletic fields, gymnasiums, and community buildings. Schedule and promote all programs through a comprehensive marketing plan, utilizing registration software, LRC website, social media, and any other approved media platforms. Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate staff and volunteers. Negotiate contracts with vendors, sponsors, and partners to secure services and funding that support LRC initiatives. Evaluate existing programs and implement new program opportunities to meet the needs of the community. Work with the Board to develop and administer an annual budget. Oversee budgeting processes, resource allocation, and process improvements to maximize operational efficiency. Coordinate special events, community outreach efforts, and activities that elevate the recreational experiences for Louisburg residents.
Qualifications:
Proven management experience with a strong background in operations management within recreation or related fields. Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning to grow community programs effectively. Experience working with government funding and public budgets. Experience working with or reporting to a Board or governing body. Communicate effectively with the public, Board, peers, and volunteers to resolve problems. Knowledge of current trends in recreation programming and community engagement strategies. Able to work independently.
