May 25, 2026- July 17, 2026 Wilson Community College is looking for an Activities Coordinator for the Summer 2026 TRiO Upward Bound Summer Residential Program that will be held at both Wilson Community College in Wilson, North Carolina (4 weeks) and at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina (2 weeks). Under the direction of the Upward Bound Coordinator, the Activities Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and facilitation of the afternoon events and activities for all Summer Residential participants. Activities include, but are not limited to: college tours, guest speakers, workshops, health and wellness activities, cultural trips, local activities, venues, special events, game evenings, etc. The activities coordinator will also assist the Upward Bound Coordinator in oversight and facilitation of the summer residential program. Qualifications Knowledge of principles and practices of PC's, Internet, and e-mail. Knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to execute general office, interpersonal, problem solving and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Essential Duties Working as activities coordinator for the Upward Bound (UB) program; Assisting in keeping records on students, program activities and participant participation. Coordinating sessions events and other activities for UB students, Planning and implementing evening events, field trips and activities. Assisting in the process of identifying and building relationships with potential community-based organizations to expose students to a variety of academic, social, and educational experiences. Monitoring expenses against allocated budget. Communicating updates to students. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree. Event planning experience. Experience monitoring, teaching, or supervising high school students. Experience working with minors, low-income, and/or first-generation students. Demonstrated knowledge of the North Carolina public school system.
