POSITION SUMMARY
Plan, organize, and lead scheduled engagement opportunities for Emory Mills residents and families. Mentor care partners in leading engaging activities. Maintain supplies in orderly fashion. Communicate with Supervisor and peers to provide positive outcomes for residents. Prioritize and manage time effectively. Develop monthly engagement calendars.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, implement, and lead programming with the assistance of other staff and peers. Coach, teach, and mentor Care Partners to effectively lead engagements. Develop and lead engagements for residents utilizing principles of he ©. Document accurate resident participation. Assist with research for new engagement opportunities and the implementation of new engagements to find the best practices for resident care. Direct and guide volunteers to assist with community programming. As a team, develop and implement monthly engagement calendars, per resident interests and choices. Identify items needed to provide scheduled activities, store, organize, gather materials, and implement activity programs planned. Drive or be willing to learn to drive the van/ bus. Maintain regular and timely attendance Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience with recreational planning for people with dementia preferred. Experience with recreational planning in an Assisted Living or Senior Center preferred. Credentials in Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Certified Activity Director, Recreation Therapist, or a combination of the above preferred. Ability to play a musical instrument preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to sit / stand for 8 hours. Must possess a complimentary voice and appropriate body language for senior populations. Walking, bending, light lifting up to 50 lbs. Emory Mills Senior Living is an equal opportunity employer.
