In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and implement a variety of recreational activities tailored to enhance the quality of life for individuals in assisted living, memory care, and long-term care settings. Responsibilities Develop and execute a diverse calendar of activities that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and health needs, including Alzheimer's and dementia care programs. Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical activity. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, family members, and community partners to ensure activities align with individual care plans and preferences. Lead recreational therapy sessions focused on enhancing residents' emotional well-being and independence through engaging exercises and social interactions. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during events to foster participation and comfort. Manage scheduling logistics for activities staff and volunteers to ensure consistent program delivery. Monitor residents' responses to activities, adjusting plans accordingly to maximize enjoyment and therapeutic benefits. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home environments; experience in memory care or Alzheimer's/dementia care is highly desirable. Strong background in senior care, recreational therapy, or working with individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of aging issues counseling, caregiving techniques, and long-term care best practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while maintaining flexibility for resident needs. Familiarity with assisting residents with ADLs during activities to promote independence and comfort.
