Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activity Director to lead engaging, meaningful programs that enhance the quality of life for residents in an assisted living or long-term care setting. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and facilitate a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community atmosphere, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and passionate about enriching the lives of seniors through innovative programming and personalized care. Duties Develop and implement a comprehensive activity calendar that includes events focused on socialization, cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and entertainment. Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents' preferences and care plans. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, family members, and community partners to ensure activities meet individual needs and safety standards. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during programming sessions to promote independence. Manage scheduling logistics to ensure timely setup, execution, and cleanup of all activities while maintaining a safe environment. Monitor residents' participation and provide personalized encouragement to foster engagement and enjoyment. Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve program offerings. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments. Strong background in recreational therapy, memory care, Alzheimer's/dementia care or working with individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of aging issues counseling, caregiving techniques, and long-term or home & community care practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents and collaborate with team members. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing needs or priorities. Experience assisting residents with ADLs and providing compassionate support tailored to seniors' unique needs. Prior experience in senior or assisted living settings is highly preferred; familiarity with dementia care is a plus.
