  • Full-time Introduction The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is a secure treatment facility that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
WRC is located on Lake Winnebago with beautiful walking paths by the lake for employees to use during break periods. WRC is recruiting to fill a Recreation Therapist position to provide therapy services to residents on assigned units. This position will work Monday through Friday, 7:45am to 4:30pm. Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program employer. Position Summary As the Recreation Therapist , you will provide therapy services to residents on assigned units. You will assess residents, prepare treatment plans, provide treatment, and evaluate/update programs. In addition, you will provide training, education and technical consultation to students, staff, and the community. Salary Information The starting pay for the Therapist is between $29.00 and $32.00 per hour (between $60,300 and $66,500 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 11/05. The starting pay for the Senior level is between $34.00 and $41.26 per hour (between $70,700 and $81,400 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 11/04. A 12-month probationary period is required for both levels. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. eligible employer. Qualifications At a minimum, you'll need the following: Certification or eligible for certification within 3 months of hire as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Completed 560-hour internship under a supervisor who is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. It'd be great if you also have one or more of the following: Experience designing, coordinating, implementing or evaluating a Recreational Therapy program. Experience working with mentally ill clients. Experience working in a secure treatment facility. Your letter of qualifications is limited to 1 page.
