Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Outpatient Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting, ensuring a positive experience for patients across a variety of medical services. Your expertise will support accurate assessments, efficient procedures, and comprehensive care coordination. Responsibilities Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations using advanced clinical knowledge. Administer medications and injections, including specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy and other injectable procedures. Assist with diagnostic evaluations, such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and imaging procedures like sonography or CT scans. Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication administration, wound care (including suturing), and disease management strategies. Manage acute pain and chronic condition care, including triage for urgent issues and coordination of follow-up care. Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Support interdisciplinary teams with case management, discharge planning, and long-term care strategies for diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with disabilities. Skills Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for efficient documentation and patient tracking. Skilled in IV infusion, catheterization (including Foley and other urinary catheters), venipuncture, and sterile technique practices. Experience working in outpatient clinics with familiarity in specialty areas such as ophthalmology, behavioral health, hospice & palliative medicine, or infectious disease care. Ability to perform complex patient assessments involving airway management, acute pain management, trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma center experience preferred), and emergency room procedures. Strong understanding of infection control protocols and adherence to NCQA standards for quality care delivery. Exceptional communication skills to educate patients effectively while collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams across multiple disciplines including geriatrics, pediatrics, occupational health, or home & community care settings.
