Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Must-Have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.
  • High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year.
Description:
This position functions within the Outpatient Department to assist patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting. Responsible for the overall operation of the clinic. Maintains skill sets, annual competencies, and certifications. Participates in in-services and educational programs within the clinic, hospital, and/or community as assigned. Completes all mandatory training and attends staff meetings. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures. Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment. Reports any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards. Refers unresolved problems with patients, coworkers, or visitors to the department or administrative manager for resolution. Addresses employee concerns consistent with Human Resources Policy. Provide clinical services, including working with providers and clinic staff to ensure excellent quality of care and service. Ensures efficient utilization of resources and compliance with standards. Provides leadership and direction to clinic staff to ensure efficient operation of all aspects of the clinic. Maintains medication inventory and supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system. Ensures that necessary quality control checks are done with the Point of Care tests. Clearly and correctly documents all care and services provided in the clinic. Completes nurse duties professionally and in a timely manner. Oversees the opening and closing of provider clinics. Assists providers and other staff as needed, anticipating their needs to ensure efficient and quality patient care. Communicates effectively with other departments to be an effective resource for patients, providers, and fellow clinic staff. Knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this in the working environment. Understanding of customer service principles, safety, and infection control principles. Skills in completing assessments, anticipating needs, and specimen collection. Proficiency in using equipment such as computers and medical equipment. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to teach when appropriate. Capable of problem-solving and using critical thinking skills to develop and maintain good working relationships with other staff and departments. Willingness to ask for help when encountering a new or challenging situation. Physical demands include regularly talking or hearing. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
