Job Description

Overview Registered Nurse - Infection Prevention Specialist in Sitka, Alaska. This travel assignment is scheduled to start 07/27/2026 for 13 weeks, with a weekly pay range of $2,784 to $2,910 and 40 guaranteed hours per week. Shift details will be discussed at interview. The role supports a hospital-setting infection prevention program across multiple sites within a regional health system, focusing on surveillance, policy development, and staff education.

Shift:
to be discussed at interview Responsibilities Lead surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs); monitor reportable conditions and ensure timely
CMS/NHSN
reporting. Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention and control policies and procedures aligned with
CDC, OSHA, CMS, TJC, APIC
guidelines. Collect and trend infection data; prepare statistical reports and support performance improvement, risk management, and related initiatives. Educate staff, patients, and visitors on infection prevention; provide new-employee IPC orientation and ongoing training across sites. Collaborate with the Performance Improvement team; co-chair the IPC committee; participate in cross-training and travel to sites as needed. Respond to outbreaks or outbreaks-like events; assist in planning and implementing containment and mitigation strategies; perform risk assessments as required. Requirements Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required Basic Life Support (BLS) current Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field; Master's degree preferred Minimum 3 years of acute care infection control experience and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience Experience with basic statistics and epidemiological principles Ability to travel to multiple sites within the health system and work effectively in a hospital environment Benefits and Support Guaranteed hours per week 13-week travel assignment Travel to multiple sites within the health system
