1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona, requiring the ability to titrate cardiac drips and prior telemetry experience. Details Acute care setting at a Level I Trauma Center Assignment in the Telemetry Float Pool, floating between CV Tele, Neuro Tele, and MedSurg units — including any holding areas (Cath Lab, ER, observation floor) Floating also occurs between two campuses approximately 9 miles apart; campus and unit assignment is communicated 1.5 hours prior to shift start, and mid-shift unit changes are possible Patient ratios are 1:3-4 on Tele units and 1:4 on MedSurg units Tele units use centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must be able to interpret EKGs MedSurg units use GE Monitors with a central monitoring station tech Patient populations include post cath lab, post vascular procedures, CABG (day 2), CVAs post-TPA, post-craniotomy, spine, neuro surgical, and general MedSurg (surgical, ortho, oncology); minimum patient age is 15 Cardiac drip titration required, including Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and Dobutamine (titrate down only on some units) Charting system: Cerner 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), nights 4 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per scheduling period required Travelers are first to float Must work 2 of 3 major holidays RT, pharmacy, and charge nurses (without patient assignments) are available 24/7 on all units PCTs are available at a ratio of 1 per 16 patients on Tele units; SWAT RN available for difficult IV access Navy scrubs required Requirements Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Telemetry experience required, including ability to interpret EKGs and titrate cardiac drips Cerner EMR experience preferred Driver's license required for consideration 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license) to qualify for the travel pay rate Additional Information Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam (up to 2 attempts) prior to contract confirmation — failure on the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status with this health system's AZ and Sacramento regions A pass/fail sterile technique simulation lab (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation — failure results in the same 6-month DNU consequence Floor-specific orientation is 2 days/shifts per unit Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within this health system — including CHI and/or Dignity — within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered First-time travelers are not explicitly approved for this position given the exam and floating complexity requirements
