Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of provider and organizational standards and protocols, reviews all outstanding lab and diagnostic imaging results for all UCHC providers to ensure completion of ordered tests. Patient care coordination efforts as directed by provider and RN care team. This is a non-patient contact position Essential Functions 1. Utilizes the nursing process and protocol in reviewing labs, imaging, and patient documents. Adheres to procedures and standards according to the Arizona State Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. 2. Updates medical and gynecological history and cancels expired orders. 3. Maintains Patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential according to UCHC and HIPAA policies, procedures, and regulations. 4. Track meaningful measures and verify chart documentation accuracy. 5. Complies with quality assurance, safety, infection control and emergency procedures consistent with clinic policy and procedures to ensure maintenance of a safe working practice for patient and colleagues. 6. Answer calls and triage patients 7. Hospital follow up 8. Reconcile labs that don't attach to patient charts, for various reasons 9. Manually enter lab results that come as document from third party Additional Duties & Responsibilities 1. Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service and outside training as appropriate or required. Completes personal and professional development plan items to maintain skills and develop personal growth through training and education. 2. Participates in inter-disciplinary task forces and work groups as relevant. 3. Assists in orientation and training of new staff and/or student externs as appropriate. 4. Participates in and complies with Quality Improvement initiatives and on-going continuous improvement efforts as appropriate. 5. Answer incoming calls. Triage patients when needed. 6. Contact lab and imaging facilities when additional information is needed to verify results. 7. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Three years of professional nursing experience required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Reliable vehicle and proof of insurance.
  • Current license to practice as an RN.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Experience/Skills
  • Demonstration of clinical skills and competencies as described in UCHC's Clinical Competency Assessment.
  • Knowledge of nursing polices, regulations, and procedures to administer care (and by end of Introductory Period, knowledge, and fluency in UCHC policies and procedures).
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment.
  • Able to identify problems and recommending solutions.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining medical records and responding to correspondence.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with medical staff.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
  • A positive, professional attitude.
  • A team player; able to work in and foster a multidisciplinary team environment.
