Job Description

Position Summary Oncology Triage Nurse is responsible for providing telephone triage, clinical assessment, patient education, and care coordination for oncology patients receiving medical oncology and infusion services. Manages symptom-based patient calls, evaluates treatment-related toxicities, and collaborates with physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure timely and appropriate interventions. Reviews and processes medication refill requests, coordinates specialty pharmacy medications and required documentation, including prior authorization. Provides chemotherapy and immunotherapy education to patients and caregivers, reinforcing treatment plans and symptom management. Oversees genetic and pathology-related testing, including ordering, tracking, and follow-up of results. Serves as a key clinical resource for patients, caregivers, infusion staff, and providers by addressing clinical inquiries, facilitating outside orders and durable medical equipment requests, and ensuring continuity of care during staffing absences and periods of increased patient volume. Demonstrates strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in an oncology practice.
