Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient surgery center team. In this dynamic role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing various outpatient procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and positive experience. Your proficiency will facilitate clear communication with diverse patient populations, enhancing overall care quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional outpatient surgical services with a focus on patient-centered care. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments prior to procedures, including vital signs, medical history review, and physiological evaluations. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and local anesthesia, following aseptic techniques. Assist physicians during endoscopic and surgical procedures, ensuring sterile field maintenance and proper instrument handling. Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological responses during recovery, managing acute pain and airway management as needed. Educate patients and their families about pre- and post-operative care instructions to promote understanding and compliance. Document all patient interactions, assessments, medications administered, and procedural details accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Provation, Epic or Cerner. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and support staff to coordinate seamless outpatient care delivery. Requirements Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice. Bilingual proficiency in English and another language (e.g., Spanish), with excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred but not required. Prior experience working in outpatient surgery centers or ambulatory surgical environments preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, medical terminology, and physiological assessment methods. Experience with IV insertion, medication administration, suturing, and specimen collection is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation. Critical care experience or background in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or ICU settings is advantageous. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety standards. Knowledge of infection control practices and HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
