  • 13 weeks with again possible extension (BI02) Job Summary The Correctional Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated patients in a secure correctional healthcare setting.
This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care while ensuring safety, compliance, and adherence to correctional facility protocols and professional nursing standards. Key Responsibilities Perform full nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care Provide direct care to acutely ill and chronic patients within a correctional environment Document patient data, assessments, and care plans accurately and timely Identify physiological and psychological risk factors and report abnormalities Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care Administer medications safely, including controlled substances per protocol Respond to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient needs Maintain infection control, safety, and correctional facility regulations Ensure compliance with ANA Scope of Practice and facility policies Participate in quality improvement and nursing practice standards Required Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years of RN experience Experience preferred in Med-Surg or Emergency Room Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills Ability to manage acute and chronic patient populations Experience with documentation, care planning, and medication administration Knowledge of infection control and controlled substance handling Ability to work in secure correctional environments Licensure & Certifications Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
