As a key member of the surgical team, you will coordinate patient care, facilitate communication among healthcare providers, and uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique. Your expertise will help deliver exceptional patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your comprehensive nursing skills and surgical knowledge to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives. Duties Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments are sterile, functional, and ready for use. Act as the central communication hub during surgeries, coordinating between surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Monitor patient safety throughout procedures by observing vital signs, maintaining aseptic technique, and responding promptly to any changes or emergencies. Assist with patient positioning, documentation of intraoperative events, and proper handling of specimens for laboratory analysis. Manage surgical equipment setup and troubleshooting to ensure seamless workflow during operations. Maintain detailed medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols and sterilization processes to uphold hospital standards and prevent cross-contamination. Qualifications Valid nursing license with current registration; previous OR experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation handling. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation procedures relevant to surgical care. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations such as emergency medicine or urgent care settings. Excellent communication skills for collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and patient assessment. Additional experience in areas like pain management, infection control, trauma medicine, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued.
