Days | 7:00 AM - 3:30
PM Pay Rate:
$2,862/week (40 hours) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join the surgical team in Fortuna, CA — a rural community hospital serving the beautiful Northern California Redwood Coast. In this role, you will both circulate and recover surgical patients in a 3-room OR, covering a range of general, pediatric, orthopedic, ENT, thoracic, and endoscopic procedures. This is a dual-role position — OR RNs at this facility are required to both circulate and provide PACU/recovery care. Endoscopy experience is required. On-call is required 2 days per week including holidays and weekends, with 3 weekend on-call 24-hour shifts per month. Epic EMR experience is preferred. First-time travelers are welcome. Requirements Active California RN license (must be currently active) Minimum 1 year of OR experience required Endoscopy experience required (hard requirement) Ability to both circulate and recover surgical patients required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required PALS required Epic EMR experience preferred On-call availability required: 2 days/week including holidays and weekends; 3 weekend 24-hour on-call shifts per month Travel experience not required — first-timers accepted Skills & Competencies Circulating and scrubbing across a multi-specialty OR environment PACU/recovery nursing care post-procedure
Endoscopy:
colonoscopy and EGD — required General surgery: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures Pediatric general surgery: appendectomy, inguinal hernia repair
Pediatric ENT:
myringotomy with tubes, tonsillectomy/adenoids
Adult ENT:
tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
Orthopedics:
total joint replacement
Thoracic:
VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) — preferred Cardiac monitoring, emergency management, and code response Fire safety and electrosurgical unit operation Sterile technique and infection control Effective collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, pharmacy, and respiratory services
