Educate staff on infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Review medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate reporting of infection incidents. Monitor patient care activities, including patient observation and physiology assessments, to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Lead outbreak investigations by collecting microbiology samples, analyzing epidemiological data, and coordinating containment strategies. Collaborate with management to develop care plans that incorporate infection prevention measures tailored to specific units such as acute care or assisted living facilities. Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and OSHA-required training programs for all healthcare personnel. Maintain detailed records of infection rates, compliance audits, and staff training sessions for continuous quality improvement. Skills Critical care experience combined with hospital experience enhances your ability to manage complex infectious disease cases effectively. Prior work in assisted living or long-term care facilities provides valuable insight into unique infection control challenges in these environments. Experience in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers demonstrates your capacity to handle high-acuity situations requiring rapid response. Strong knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, and medical terminology supports accurate assessment and intervention strategies. Proven leadership skills enable you to guide teams through infection prevention initiatives while fostering a culture of safety. Expertise in data collection, management systems (such as MDS), documentation review, and medical records ensures precise tracking of infection metrics. Familiarity with public health principles and aseptic techniques is essential for effective outbreak management and compliance with OSHA standards.
