Job Description

The Immediate Care (IC) Registered Nurse (RN) under the supervision of IC nursing management, works with a multi-disciplinary team to assist with patient care. The Immediate Care Registered Nurse is responsible for patient assessment and planning, providing treatments, reporting pertinent information to the Provider, and working with members of the department to meet optimal patient care outcomes meeting guidelines set forth under the California State Law defining the Nurse Practice Act. Professional Duties Evaluates and assesses patient to establish an individualized plan of care and intervene per scope of practice. Escalates concerns and/or more complex issues to Provider immediately. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care and delivery of quality patient care. Administer medication in accordance to scope of practice and departmental policies and procedures. Perform electrocardiograms (ECG) as ordered by the Provider and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Perform wound care dressing application, suture application/removal, splint application/removal in accordance with departmental policy and procedure within the scope of practice. Assist Providers with invasive and/or non-invasive procedures, as needed. Perform testing in accordance with departmental policy and procedure as ordered by the Provider. Document patient assessment and patient interactions in electronic medical and health record in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Participate in quality control activities which include but are not limited to: refrigerator check (for temperature), POC testing, accucheck machine, etc. Respond to all codes timely to ensure rapid intervention. Responsible for lab draws, specimen processing using CBC machine and Piccolo, and relaying results to Provider. Perform other duties as assigned. Serve as an ambassador for Desert Oasis Healthcare and Family Hospice Care at all times and positively shape the customer experience Introduce self and your role Be knowledgeable about your job so that you can serve others effectively Help others, offering to assist (Ask, how may I help you?) Be observant of others' social cues (emotions) and respond appropriately Speak clearly and use understandable language (avoid medical jargon or slang) Summarize key information and provide written materials whenever possible Validate to ensure understanding Use open-ended questions to engage Demonstrate appropriate body language and tone of voice Speak positively about your work, co-workers and Desert Oasis Healthcare and Family Hospice Care See the positive in situations and in others Avoid gossip and negativity Offer to answer any additional questions that the person, patient or customer may have Qualifications Associates Degree in Nursing required. Current California RN License required. 2 years of nursing experience required. RN experience in acute care, emergency room, urgent care or immediate care, preferred. 1 year of experience may be substituted with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and/or Master's degree in Nursing. Well-informed in scope of practice. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals within all levels of the organization, patients, providers, and others. Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize critical thinking and judgment to problem solve. Proficient with I.V. skills. BLS and ACLS required. Valid California's Driver's license and proof of auto insurance required.
