Required Job Overview Seeking an experienced Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care for patients with acute and chronic wounds, ostomies, continence disorders, skin breakdown, pressure injuries, and fistulas. This role serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, and healthcare staff while promoting evidence-based wound care practices and positive patient outcomes. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive wound, skin, ostomy, and continence assessments Develop and implement individualized treatment plans Manage acute and chronic wounds, pressure injuries, fistulas, and ostomies Assess and monitor Stage III and Stage IV pressure injuries Evaluate and report hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) Educate patients and families on wound and ostomy care Provide staff education, bedside teaching, and clinical in-services Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care Evaluate wound care products, equipment, and treatment protocols Support quality improvement initiatives focused on skin integrity and patient safety Maintain accurate clinical documentation Requirements Active California RN License BSN required Minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experience Current CWON (Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse) Certification Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally Required Skills Wound Care Management Ostomy and Continence Care Pressure Injury Prevention and Management HAPI Assessment and Reporting Skin Integrity Evaluation Fistula Care Infection Control Patient and Family Education Care Planning and Clinical Documentation Staff Education and Training Interdisciplinary Collaboration Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Preferred Candidate Strong communication and patient advocacy skills Experience working with complex wound and ostomy patients Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with healthcare teams
