1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a CA RN license, Epic proficiency, and strong post-anesthesia recovery skills across a broad range of surgical cases. Details Inpatient PACU setting at a hospital with Level II Trauma Center designation Phase I and Phase II recovery of patients following a wide variety of surgical procedures including cardiac, neuro, ortho, bariatric, vascular, thoracic, transplant, and more Patient ratio of 1:2 Day shift schedule with variable start times (0800, 0900, 1000, or 1200); shift lengths are 4x10-hour shifts Shift end times range from 1830 to 2030 depending on start time Epic EMR required 13-week contract Requirements Active CA RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC only) PALS preferred Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required Experience with Epic EMR required Proficiency in airway management, including extubation, LMA/ET, intubation, and oral/nasal airway placement Experience with arterial line management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management Experience managing ventilated patients, chest tubes, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring Skills in IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, and PICC line management Experience administering and monitoring procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, anticoagulation therapy, and emergency medications Ability to interpret ABGs and manage hemodynamic monitoring including CVP and PA lines Experience with pre-op assessment and post-operative patient care Teaching hospital experience preferred Community hospital experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration 7-year work history verification required Additional Information Responsible for post-anesthesia recovery care, including ongoing patient assessment, pain management, airway management, and emergency intervention Manages patients across a broad range of surgical specialties and anesthesia types, including general, spinal, MAC, nerve blocks, conscious sedation, and post-epidural Applies nursing process including individualized care planning, patient/family education, and discharge planning Serves as a liaison between nursing and medical staff, coordinating collaborative patient care Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol and RASS assessment knowledge expected Pediatric PACU experience preferred; management of pediatric patients preferred Holiday coverage is required; only 1 holiday off per contract may be requested — covered holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (holiday period begins 7:00 PM the night before and ends 7:00 AM the day after) Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates Former employees or travelers may be considered with no required separation period; former manager's name will be needed
