In this vital role, you will provide safe and effective sedation care during outpatient procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process. Your expertise will support a variety of specialties, including pain management, Gastroenterology (GI), and minor surgical interventions, while adhering to the highest standards of clinical practice. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes. Duties Administer moderate sedation to patients undergoing outpatient procedures, closely monitoring vital signs, oxygenation, and anesthesia levels to maintain patient stability. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments prior to sedation, including reviewing medical histories and current medications or other injectable therapies. Assist physicians during procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, and managing airway and ventilation support as needed. Observe patients during recovery from sedation, providing ongoing assessment and ensuring safe discharge protocols are followed. Document all care activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, including medication administration, vital signs, and procedural details. Educate patients on post-procedure care instructions, potential side effects, and safety precautions related to sedation and treatment plans. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across specialties such as ophthalmology, dermatology, critical care units, or emergency medicine to optimize patient care. Skills Proven experience with IV infusion techniques, medication administration, and airway management in acute or outpatient settings. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation relevant to sedation procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as HST, for accurate documentation. Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement and physical examinations with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments enhances patient-centered approach. Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique essential for safe procedural support.
