Key duties include measuring vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, maintaining patient records, and communicating changes in condition to the healthcare team. The specific tasks can vary by the type of facility, such as a long-term care facility, hospital, or correctional setting.
Core Responsibilities Patient Care:
Providing direct bedside care, including assisting with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
Key Skills & Qualifications Licensure:
A current and valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license is required.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of nursing skills, excellent communication (both oral and written), and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited LVN program is necessary.
Where LVNs Work Hospitals:
Assisting with care for patients of all ages with various conditions.
Long-Term Care Facilities:
Providing care for residents, potentially serving as a charge nurse in the absence of an RN.
Other Facilities:
Including outpatient clinics, correctional facilities, and other diverse healthcare settings. Flexible schedule
Monitoring & Reporting:
Monitoring vital signs, observing and documenting patient conditions, and reporting any changes to RNs or physicians.
Medication Administration:
Administering prescribed medications and treatments, which may include IVs after completing an accredited course.
Documentation:
Accurately documenting patient information and care in electronic health records (EHRs).
Teamwork:
