Job Summary:
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the joint replacement population from pre-operative class to recovery. This includes demonstrating knowledge of the principles of caring for the following, but not limited to, in-patient processes/protocols disease process, risk factor identification and patient and family education, patient experience and community resources.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and coordinates care for patients decisive to have a joint replacement surgery by systematically and continually performing the functions of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluating care according to the nursing process, in compliance with the current Joint Commission Certification and all data reporting agencies necessary to maintain certification.
- Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of programs to support the goals of the Joint Replacement Program certification.
- Develops, manages, implements and evaluates the Joint Replacement program in coordination with the Program committee.
- Assists patients in understanding their treatment and assisting them in their recovery. Develops a follow-up system to provide continual support throughout recovery to improving their quality of life.
- Provides psychosocial and emotional support to Joint replacement patient and their family.
- Works closely with the medical staff in coordination of timely care.
- Assists in the development of appropriate educational material for patients, family, and clinical staff in collaboration with the Education Department and Joint Certification committee.
- Attends and participates in the Joint Certification Meetings and any other related committee/taskforce as needed.
- Offers pre-operative class education to prepare patients for surgery and after-care.

Registered Nurse, MS Experience:
2 years
RN-CA Certifications:
BLS References:

Strong Orthopedics Experience The Role:
ORTHOPEDIC NURSE NAVIGATOR
The focus of this role is Orthopedics, Stroke and Cardiac
REQUIRED
Orthopedic Nurse Certification EPIC Experience Required:
Minimum of six (6)
- twelve (12) months within the past year.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Previous program development and implementation experience preferred with a minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience. Recent experience in orthopedics preferred. Thorough knowledge of TJC Disease-Specific and other regulatory requirements
