Under the direction of the ATC Practice Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides care to uncomplicated and high-risk OB patients in the Antenatal Testing Center, UCSF Department of Women's Health. The RN will play a critical role in the patient experience, including optimizing clinic flow, providing in-person and outreach to patients, and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient-centered environment. I n collaboration with the ATC Medical Director and Nurse Supervisor, the nurse has the clinical responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations. The RN is a team player who works closely with others and is flexible in handling changing priorities. They are self-reliant individuals who synthesize their knowledge of practice operations to problem-solve, prioritize, and facilitate complex transactions in the course of their daily activities. They function in an expanded nursing role in the administration and interpretation of fetal surveillance tests. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs. The RN has excellent oral and written communication skills; can work well with minimal supervision in a complex, fast-paced, and challenging environment. S/he is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times. This position makes a difference for patients in an outpatient care unit by providing excellent nursing care and customer service, facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical, hospital staff, and departments to maximize unit efficiency. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
