The Infection Control Nurse oversees all infection prevention and control activities within the facility and performs infection prevention risk assessments and surveillance to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and revision of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including goals, standards, policies, and procedures. Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to improve infection prevention and control performance and services. Report communicable diseases and supporting laboratory data to local, state, and national health departments as required. Participate in the development and review of Infection Prevention and Control Standards of Care, policies, and procedures for assigned areas. Provide infection prevention in-service education and training to facility staff as needed. Provide consultation and review related to facility construction/remodel projects and new patient care equipment to ensure infection control compliance. Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Infection Control Professional in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. Current LVN or RN license required. Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions. May interact with residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies. May be required to work beyond scheduled hours as necessary. Subject to call-back during emergency situations (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, disaster recovery, etc.). May be exposed to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, or other air contaminants. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including TB, Hepatitis B, and

HIV/AIDS.

May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous chemicals. Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to work throughout all nursing areas of the facility. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds independently; lifting up to 100 pounds may require assistance.
