Job Description

The Unit Lead Nurse is responsible for assisting with clinical management and assisting with the administrative coordination of the nursing unit. The position is a combination of clinical (direct care) and assisting with administrative unit responsibilities to ensure effective delivery of evidenced based clinical patient care. Assists with ensuring compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures. The key components of the Quality-Caring Model (QCM) are interwoven throughout the delivery of care within nursing and nurses are expected to utilize the QCM and a framework for providing excellent nursing care to their patients, developing collegial relationships with the healthcare team, and implementing self-care and self reflective behaviors to restore balance to ones' self. Core Competencies Adheres to infection prevention guidelines Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards of practice to deliver safe and optimal care Assesses patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status Communicates with the patient, family, medical staff and others during the continuum of care Complies with Joint Commission's national patient safety goals Complies with organizational quality dashboard/benchmarking goals Interprets common variables affecting patient care and follows reporting process Maintains regulatory compliance consistent with quality standards and ethical obligations of the profession Participates in activities in alignment with the Magnet Model Participates in organizational activities Participates in Peer Review Participates in professional development activities Performs as a preceptor in an active and engaged manner Provides age-specific individualized care that supports protection from harm and complies with patient safety centered interventions/bundles Provides patient and family education throughout the care of patient Uses critical thinking to formulate and carry out a care plan according to patient needs Utilizes resources in an economical manner Utilizes safe administration of medications Utilizes Safe Patient Handling Department Specific Competencies Meets with patient and family regarding feedback and follows up on their issues; Implements planned service recovery strategies, if indicated, appropriately documenting the incident and informing appropriate departments Ensures a daily culture geared toward providing an excellent patient experience Demonstrates the values of the organization in daily actions and communication as evidenced by peer evaluation, meeting targeted Employee Satisfaction scores, and meeting targeted NDNQI survey scores Supports the annual budget for the individual unit by meeting established productivity standards through appropriate flexing when needed, maintaining staffing matrix guidelines and unit specific ratios. Assists in the promotion of professional growth and development of the staff Functions as the clinical expert and resource, directing patient care activities on the unit, as evidenced by attendance at mandatory leadership classes, courses and inservices. Assists with ensuring clinical quality of care and the integration of the quality caring model in clinical services on the unit as evidenced by meeting targeted quality indicator outcomes, targeted patient satisfaction scores and targeted benchmarks for unit dashboard Works effectively with other units, departments and physicians to support the organizational goals as evidenced by State and Federal regulatory surveys, accreditation and certification findings related to specific area of responsibility Education Degree Program Bachelors Nursing Additional Information Experience Number of Years Experience Type of Experience 2 2 years in your area of practice Additional Information Pre Op, ICU or ED experience License / Certification Requirements ACLS Certification BCLS or ACLS Certification PALS Certification. Registered Nurse License CPAN or CAPA certified Compensation Range $66.64 - $102.48 / Hour
