Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Position Summary:
The Peritoneal dialysis nurse is responsible for the entire peritoneal dialysis program. In addition to training and following patients, the nurse is responsible to see that the programs continue to progress effectively and efficiently with the highest quality of care. This position is currently part time with potential of full time. Must be able to work in Victorville and Barstow.Qualifications:
Current California license to practice as a registered professional nurse. Current CPR Three (3) years dialysis experience preferred Knowledge and understanding of theNurse Practice Act Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Patient care (shares responsibilities with the other home-training nurses) 1. Evaluates patients for feasibility of performing peritoneal dialysis at their home setting. 2. Educates patients and their partners about peritoneal dialysis, the machine and other treatment options as well all possible complications. 3. Keeps accurate records of the patient's progress while training and while at home, including the monthly Home Medication List. 4. Coordinate with the physician to evaluate lab values, vital signs and dialysis adequacy once a month or as indicated by the patient's health status, including participation in monthly clinic visits with physicians and patients. 5. Oversees the ordering of supplies of patients on peritoneal dialysis. 6. Continually tries to evaluate the equipment and techniques that will reduce Peritoneal dialysis costs without interfering with the quality of care. 7. Completes nursing part of Comprehensive Patient Assessment along with rest of multi-disciplinary team and patient. B.Coordination:
1. Teaches other personnel how to train patients and their partners for Peritoneal dialysis. 2. Advises other personnel on alternate approaches to training patients and their partners. 3. Takes the leadership role in developing audio-visual aides useful in Teaching laypersons the techniques of peritoneal dialysis. 4. Informs Administrator of any educational needs to keep updated in field. C. Unit Responsiblities 1. Participates in the orientation and ongoing in-service of the dialysis staff and acts as a resource nurse in handling complications. 2. Performs other duties in dialysis as requested by the Clinical Coordinator 3. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Similar remote jobs
