This role offers the opportunity to work in diverse surgical environments, providing critical patient care during operative procedures. The ideal candidate will possess extensive OR experience, demonstrate exceptional clinical skills, and be committed to delivering superior patient outcomes. This position is designed for travel nurses eager to bring their expertise to various healthcare facilities, ensuring optimal surgical support and patient safety across multiple settings. Duties Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative support, and postoperative recovery management. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and sterile processing protocols to prevent infection. Assist surgical teams with instrument handling, suturing, and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Monitor patient vital signs continuously and respond promptly to any changes in condition. Administer medications, including anesthesia support and pain management interventions, following hospital policies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care transitions within the operating room environment. Document all nursing activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Support emergency procedures and trauma cases, including Level I and Level II trauma center protocols. Conduct patient assessments, including airway management and physiological evaluations, prior to surgery. Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, post-op care, and recovery expectations. Requirements Valid RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure for multiple states. Minimum of two years of recent operating room experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center settings. Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10 coding is preferred. Experience with advanced surgical procedures including cardiac catheterization, neuro or orthopedic surgeries. Knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing standards, and infection control practices. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to perioperative care. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with surgical teams and patient education.
