In this role, you will utilize your expertise to assess patient needs, administer treatments, and coordinate care plans that promote healing and well-being. This paid position offers opportunities to work in various specialties, including acute care, long-term care, outpatient clinics, and community health programs. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques, including IV infusions and medication administration. Assist with diagnostic procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and specimen collection/processing while ensuring infection control standards are maintained. Provide specialized care in areas like cardiology (e.g., cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (e.g., Botox treatments), geriatrics (memory care, dementia care), pediatrics (toddler and neonatal care), and behavioral health. Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for case management, discharge planning, and follow-up care. Support patients in emergency situations by managing airway, ventilator support, trauma medicine protocols (Level I & II trauma centers), and triage procedures. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and ICD coding standards such as ICD-10 or ICD-9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards to enhance patient safety and care outcomes. Skills Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for effective patient assessment and treatment planning. Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization (urinary or vascular), phlebotomy, suturing, and sterile processing techniques. Expertise in managing diverse patient populations including those with developmental disabilities, memory impairments, or requiring hospice & palliative medicine services. Critical care experience in ICU or emergency room settings; familiarity with trauma medicine at Level I & II trauma centers is highly valued. Ability to handle complex cases involving infectious disease care, occupational health issues like workers' compensation law compliance, or post-acute care needs. Excellent communication skills for patient education on health coaching topics such as nutrition or medication adherence; capable of working with children or elderly populations across home & community care environments. Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes; experience with laboratory testing procedures such as specimen collection or processing is a plus.
