  • PRN Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to serve in a Behavioral Health/State Facility setting.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals with diverse mental health needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, and acute psychiatric conditions. This role involves delivering patient-centered care within a secure environment, adhering to regulatory standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes in a challenging yet rewarding environment. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status evaluations, and physical examinations. Administer medications accurately, including injections, IV infusions, and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy when applicable. Monitor patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition, providing immediate intervention as necessary. Implement and follow individualized care plans aligned with patients' behavioral health needs and medical requirements. Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, and sterile technique adherence. Maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care delivery. Support discharge planning efforts by providing education on medication management and community resources. Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff. Engage in ongoing training related to trauma medicine, infectious disease care, geriatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and other specialized areas relevant to behavioral health. Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (CT or compact eligible preferred) Strong communication and patient care skills Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or related nursing preferred (not mandatory) Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced clinical environment
