The is a full time, eleven-month position, with a start date of September 10, 2025. Wooster School educates a diverse population of students in terms of academic ability, socioeconomic background, and ethnicity, with different learning, medical and social-emotional needs. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Divisions, and in conjunction with the Student Life team to support students by working with parents, grade- level teachers, and outside professionals. The Nurse's primary area of responsibility is to meet the healthcare needs of students, faculty, and staff while at school. Wooster has nine separate buildings on campus; depending on the nature of the illness or injury the nurse may travel to a classroom building to treat a student. Otherwise, students in need of care visit the Health Center. Confidentiality in all school issues is a must. Background Founded in 1926, Wooster School is a co-educational, 5-12, college preparatory day school with an enrollment of approximately 350 students. The school is located in Danbury, Connecticut and, by design, educates students with diverse academic abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ethnicities. Wooster is a member of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Independent Schools. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Address the needs of various age levels from Grades 5-12.
  • Assess student health status, identifying and managing barriers to student learning.
  • Track and collect all health forms for the School, including annual Physical requirements.
  • Provide emergency care.
  • Ensure access to health care for all.
  • Collaborate with counseling staff and Student Life team to identify students of concern (medically, socially or emotionally), providing input and implementing intervention, as needed.
  • Maintain cumulative health records, utilizing MagnusHealth for electronic health records.
  • Manage, monitor, and provide training for staff in CPR and First Aid.
  • Provide ongoing training for teachers to allow them to meet student needs and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with parents and their medical professionals to meet the wellness needs of students on campus.
  • Plan and implement vaccine clinics, as needed.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and act as a resource/liaison for parents, students, and staff.
  • Hours required to work are 8:15 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday. Qualifications
  • Registered professional Nurse with minimum 2 years school nurse experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field
  • National School Nurse Certification a plus
  • Experience working with the required age groups.
  • Must be able to work in conjunction with the Athletic Trainer
  • Current CPR/AED Professional Rescuer certification, as well as CPR Instructor certification
  • Current RN Connecticut State license

  • Wooster School is a campus setting with 10 buildings, and the role often requires movement across all areas of campus.
This includes stair and athletic facilities. Salary & Benefits This is a full-time, exempt position. Salaries are competitive with local independent schools.
