Registered Nurse- Ambulatory Cardiology- Per Diem

Provides general or specialized nursing care to patients in ambulatory setting or clinical practice. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, Connecticut Children's policies and procedures and State and federal regulations. Reports to Nurse Manager. Education and/or

Experience:

ASN required upon hire. BSN preferred upon hire and required within 3 years of hire. 3+ years of experience in Inpatient, or Critical Care environments preferred. License and/or

Certifications Required:

Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse licensure required and maintained thereafter. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required upon hire and maintained thereafter. Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by department.

Networks with healthcare team by documenting and communicating comprehensive data including complex child/family needs to provide continuity. Provides psychosocial support for patient, family and peers to promote healthier patient/family/team outcomes. Follows "Comfort Central" as the guiding principle in the assessment and treatment of pain, as outlined in the management of pain policy. Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Position Specific Role Responsibilities The Nurse assists the multi-disciplinary team in the development, implementation, and advancement of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease program. Collaborates and works with Cardiology Clinic joint programs. Maintains the INR clinic outcomes and database, trend analysis of data collected and shares with stakeholders. Reviews the pacemaker, heart failure and adult congenital patient policies and/or protocols and collaborates with clinical leadership to determine appropriateness of adopting/adapting guidelines or protocols. Provides care coordination to ensure the optimal health of the patient is provided. Support is also provided to the EP lab, Cath Lab and fetal RN.
