1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long Term Acute Care Float position requiring at least 3 years of RN experience, with a preference for respiratory and ventilator patient experience. Details Long term acute care (LTAC) setting — not a traditional Med/Surg environment Primary patient population consists of approximately 65% chronic vent and trach patients, with the remaining 35% being rehab-type patients including stroke, TBI, respiratory failure, and COPD Assigned to a 24-bed unit at a satellite campus Patient ratios range from 1:5-8, with an average of 1:6 or 1:7 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM
  • 7:00 AM Every other weekend is required Float assignment — travelers float first to like units at a sister campus, including: Respiratory Care/Respiratory Step Down (ratios: D/E 1:9, N 1:12), Medically Complex Rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring (ratios: D/E 1:7, N 1:9), and TBI/Medically Complex Chronic Care (ratios: D/E 1:7-10, N 1:12) RNs will not be assigned to pediatrics unless pedi-specific experience is confirmed Respiratory therapists (RTs) manage ventilators — RNs are not responsible for vent management Requirements Active CT or Compact RN license required Minimum 3 years of RN experience required Current BLS certification required Experience with respiratory and ventilated patients strongly preferred Prior travel nursing experience preferred Proficiency with IV starts, IV drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titration, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, Foley care, port access, and central line dressing changes Additional Information Responsibilities include performing IV starts, administering drips and blood products, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, Foley care, port access, and central line dressing care Candidates should clearly indicate where they have gained experience with respiratory and ventilated patients 13-week assignment
