1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position at a large Level I Trauma Center, requiring vent and tracheostomy experience with night shift availability. Details Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a large, short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with 1,500+ beds Patient population includes pulmonary step-down patients requiring mechanical ventilation Average patient ratio of 1:3 Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM
  • 7:00 AM Required to work every other weekend Floating within scope required to meet facility needs Block scheduling is not available Charting via Epic No on-call requirements Parking available at an additional cost (~$125/month) Requirements Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active prior to start date) Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required ICU, ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy experience required Trauma center experience at a large facility required No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license 1 professional reference required for consideration Additional Information Care for pulmonary step-down patients on mechanical ventilation in a high-acuity PCU environment Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted COVID vaccine required; religious or medical exemptions may be considered First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler RTO of 7 days or fewer may be approved by the facility; requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
